WEB STANDARDS:
ABQRunningShop.com was built with web standards as guidelines: (X)HTML, CSS and the JavaScript (via the DOM). While these are not strict rules by which we police ourselves, they do guide best practices in building a robust, accessible, usable, and scalable web site. For more information, see WaSP.
TYPOGRAPHY:
Body and heading text elements are set in Trebuchet MS (Windows) and Lucida Grande (Mac) with Geneva as a fall-back option.
PHOTOGRAPHY:
Storefront image in header was taken with a Canon Digital Rebel XT and processed in Photoshop. The black box logo is copyright © Sharon Bart of The Running Shop.
The random images that switch on the home page were purchased from istockphoto.com, and all other images are from ABQ Running Shop.
CONTENT MANAGEMENT:
Content such as text and images are organized with the CakePHP framework. More specifically, TenMinCake. This is a lightweight CMS framework built on top of CakePHP. TenMinCake uses a MySQL database to store content and the wonderful CakePHP Model » Controller » View magic does the rest.
DESIGN NOTES:
All design, layout, CSS and (X)HTML work was done on an IBM Thinkpad T42 with help from an Ultrabrite A90f Viewsonic CRT monitor (19″). Programs used: Illustrator and Photoshop, TopStyle, HomeSite, SmartFTP, Basecamp project management, pUtty, and the lovely Subversion for managing the code versions.
