Boston Marathon Relief Run
Thank you to all for your support with the Boston Marathon relief run. We are absolutely overwhelmed with the response and can’t wait to see everyone out here tomorrow. For every 2.62 mile lap you run between 6 and 7:30, we will donate $5 to the Boston Marathon relief efforts, up to $1000. We will be collecting donations, as well.
We have chosen two different charities. The first is the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). They have created a specific fund for Boston victims. The CAF helps amputees return to competitive racing, be in in running, triathlon, or other sports.
The second charity is The One Fund Boston. It was created specifically to help the victims affected by the bombing.
Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
Registration will open at 5 p.m. at ABQ Running Shop. Our address is 6550 Holly Ave NE, Suite D-2. There is absolutely no cost to join and run with us. If you can’t make it until after the run starts, that is fine!
If you can’t run, we could use 8-10 volunteers for checking people in, handing out water, and to be course monitors. Please e-mail email@example.com if you can help.
All runners and walkers must check in to ABQ Running Shop, sign the waiver, and get a bib number. We will mark off your number for each lap completed.
The course is NOT closed to traffic and we ask everyone to stay on the sidewalks. Please obey all traffic lights and street signs and WATCH OUT FOR CARS! Please be courteous to your fellow walkers and runners.
Although we are normally very dog friendly, we ask that you keep your pups at home tonight. We’re expecting a huge crowd and don’t want anyone to be tangled up in leashes.
We will have a water stop out on the course. Gatorade will be available at the water stop as well as inside ABQ Running Shop. Please don’t litter!
We’d like to thank Angie Kandalaft of Chasing 3 Race Productions, as well. She is helping to provide many of the materials, bib numbers, and supplies.
